Compunction
One morning, Margart went into her classroom and found nobody else there. She knew some of her classmates had come ahead of her because two of them had left their coats on the backs of their chairs. After she put her bag in position, she went out, passing by Helen’s seat, where there was one of the coats.
Just then, she accidentally caught sight og a red note of one hundred dollars which had slipped out from the pocket of helen’s coat. It came to her mind that she had taken a fancy to a pair of shoes, but she had had no money to buy. Thus she was so obsessed by lust for money that she snapped the note up in others’ absence and hid it in such a way as she thought safe. She got out as if nothing had happened and consifered herself lucky for she did not come across anybody of her way to playground.
When the preparatory bell rang, all students retured to the classroom. Helen put on her coat, not knowing her money had been lost. Margret congratulated herself once again.
